RICP® Designation

The RICP® designation teaches advisers techniques and best practices used to create sustainable streams of retirement income. The education covers retirement income planning, maximizing Social Security and other income sources, minimizing risks to the plan, and managing portfolios during the asset distribution phase. The designation includes three required, college-level courses that represent a total average study time of more than 150 hours. RICP® designees must meet experience, continuing education and ethics requirements. The credential is awarded by The American College, a non-profit educator founded in 1927 and the highest form of academic accreditation.

What is a Retirement Income Certified Professional?

A RICP® certified individual is someone who has sought further training and education in the field of retirement planning. These individuals possess the knowledge required to effectively oversee the transition of asset accumulation to asset decumulation.

How can a Retirement Income Certified Professional help me?

The RCIP® designation allows your advisor to demonstrate value to your life by instilling in them the knowledge necessary to deliver smart strategies necessary to create sustainable, secure income for your retirement.

Can’t any advisor help me plan for my retirement?

I have owned Angulo Strategies since 2001 and have been in the financial services industry since 1997. In my experience, every trusted client relationship stems from getting to know clients’ values, as well as the importance of family and professional development. These discussions provide me with greater insight of my client and better allow me to help them reach their financial goals. In fact, I often think of myself as a “personal chief financial officer” to each one of my clients.

Whether I’m helping individuals, families or business owners, I strive to simplify my clients’ lives by bringing them the resources, information and advice they need to accomplish their financial objectives. Doing so often includes collaborating with their other trusted professionals, such as attorneys and CPAs. By engaging all parties, I am able to grasp a better sense of the client’s whole financial picture and can offer tailored solutions for helping achieve their goals. To me, there’s nothing more satisfying.

While simultaneously working on my career and attending college, I learned the value of time management and hard work. I graduated from Pace University with my B.A. in finance and then I focused my attention on continually expanding my education and working towards a fulfilling career. When I’m not helping clients reach their financial goals, I like to work on my own goals, both professionally and personally. These include pursuing continued education in insurance and financial services via the American College and the Eagle Flight Crew Study Group, completing obstacle races, and training in mixed martial arts. I am a student of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and have achieved purple belt status. I currently live in Harlem, NY and enjoy being involved in the community and being a devoted family man to my wife, Katherine, and two children.

As the Director of Client Relations, I have the opportunity to regularly interact with our clients. Not only do I work to anticipate their needs, but I also look to build strong relationships with each client. Getting to know them and taking care of them is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I take great satisfaction in helping Barjes simplify clients’ lives by bringing them the resources and information they need to accomplish their financial objectives. Being fluent in Spanish, I also take pride in working in a bilingual office, helping clients in the Hispanic community achieve their financial goals. Before joining Angulo Strategies in 2013, I was an agent at New York Life, helping people with their insurance and long term care needs. Previously, I worked in residential sales and rentals in New York.

My passion for helping people extends beyond my professional career. I have donated my hair multiple times to Locks of Love to help children affected by cancer. I’m also passionate about traveling to new places and training in mixed martial arts. I hold an Associate’s degree from the Wood Tobé-Coburn School, and am involved with the Red Shoe Movement.

In my free time, I love spending time with our dog Wrinkles. We often go down to the doggie beach and go swimming in the summer.

I am the Registered Service Assistant at Angulo Strategies. I perform a variety of tasks to help Barjes and Katherine be as efficient as possible and to ensure that our clients’ needs are met and expectations are exceeded.

Currently, I am working on a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Services at Berkeley College. My goal is to continue my education so that I can better serve the needs of the company and our clients.

I am a proud father of a young son named Ezio, and I enjoy spending time with him, reading, experiencing nature, and writing uplifting music.

I am the Mood Equalizer at Angulo Strategies. While I don’t have any “official” duties when I’m at the home office, I strive each day to make sure that my humans are staying happy. I’m good at getting everyone outside on a beautiful day to go for a walk, and napping when I’m not being adored. When I’m not at the home office, I’m spending time with my humans at the doggie park and swimming in the summertime.
